Thick nominated for Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize. Maxi presents recent work in seminar ‘Novel Form’ at Harvard Graduate School of Design. Jia presents her curatorial work to students in ‘Critical Practices’ at the Art Center’s Media Design Practices (March 21). We lecture and discuss at Helms Bakery District as part of Cal Poly LA Metro Program Lecture Series (May 17). Maxi joins artists, writers, and musicians for a residency at the MacDowell Colony (June). Jia moderates a discussion between Angela McRobbie, cultural theorist and Tatjana Turanskyj, film maker as part of MakeCity Festival at Berlinische Galerie. Momento! launches at the Getty Pacific Standard Time
August (September 17). Spinagu commissioned to design pavilion for the public launch of Getty Pacific Standard Time in September. Spinagu presents work at LA Weekly’s Artopia in downtown’s historic Union Station (August). Maxi is in conversation with Hernan Diaz Alonso at the SCI-Arc Gallery (July 2). Thick is featured in LA Forum’s Delirious LA with an interview by Maxi Spina. KCRW lists Thick as one of five top design events in Los Angeles. Thick opens at the SCI-Arc Gallery on July 7. Jia participates alongside Situ Studio, Carmody Groarke, Jay Nelson, DoSu, Warren Techentin Architecture, and Iwamoto Scott in the opening weekend of Architectural Pavilions (June 23-24), an exhibition curated by Mariah Neilson for the San Francisco Museum of Craft and Design. Jia co-chairs the Graduate Student Lightning Panel the Society of Architectural Historians conference in Glasgow, UK (June 9). Jia lectures in Berlin at the Institute for Architecture on the topic of institutions, installations and instruments (June 7). Thanks Rosario Talevi!
