¡Momento!

Pavilion, 2017

¡Momento! is a pop-up pavilion designed by Spinagu (in collaboration with CARS) for The Getty Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA, a far-reaching and ambitious exploration of Latin American and Latino art in dialogue with Los Angeles.
As the title suggests, ¡Momento! is in service of moments - moments of discovery, moments of learning, and moments of architecture. The pavilion is composed of four modular architectural blocks with specific programs: seating, shelving, service and shade. The modules of the pavilion can be interconnected, disconnected, and rearranged in an endless series of spatial compositions, producing a framing device which extends the activities of the pavilion space into the public launch. As a temporary information kiosk, reading room, and discovery space for visitors to the Getty PST LA/LA Public Launch Party, the project takes its cues from the architectural history of Latin America and Los Angeles, such as the stark forms of midcentury Brutalist architecture and the use of raw unrefined materials in building practices.
